This Red Fox Caught a Snake near La Veta | 1 June, 2024

I came across this red fox in a pasture near La Veta. It was lying down in the grass and seemed to be preoccupied. I took these pictures using a telephoto lens at extreme range.I was about a football field away and downwind, but at some point the fox may have noticed me.The fox picked up the snake in its jaws……and ran out of my sight.
